SUMMER 2009 TENNIS COACHING AND COMPETITION
PROGRAMME

Our popular outdoor Mini and Junior Tennis Coaching will commence on 18th April 2009 and run each Saturday morning up to and including Saturday 3rd October.
The format will be as follows:
9.00 am to 10.00 am Mini Red intended for the under 8 age group.
10.00 am to 11.00 am Mini Orange intended for the 8 to 10 age group but could include slightly older youngsters who’s skill level deters them from joining the last group of the day.
11.00 am to 12.00 Noon Mini Green and Yellow intended for the over 10 years old with the ball used dependent on ability.
Cost will be £5 per session or £20 prepayment for a block of five sessions.
Tennis rackets will be available on free loan so the only thing a youngster needs is to wear suitable flat, non ridged footwear.
Adult ‘Rusty Rackets’ Coaching.
From 9.00 am to 11.00 am each Saturday adult coaching sessions will be held for beginners or returners primarily but not exclusively aimed at the Parents accompanying children attending Mini Red and Orange sessions.
Each session will be of a one hour duration and will cost £5 for Club members or £7.50 for non-members. Once again rackets will be available on free loan and participants are asked to wear suitable footwear. As these sessions will require the involvement of an additional coach some prior indication of interest would be appreciated.
After School Clubs.
Starting after the Easter Break After School tennis clubs will be held each term time Wednesday from 4.00 pm to 6.00 pm and will cater for all ability levels and age groups.
The cost will be £5 and rackets will be available on free loan with participants asked to wear suitable loose clothing and wear or bring flat soled, non-ridged footwear.
Holiday Tennis Camps.
A series of Tennis camps will be held during school holidays commencing Monday 6th April (First week of the Easter break).
These camps will run each day (Monday to Thursday) from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm at all colour levels as there will be two coaches available.
The cost will be £12 per person per session with a reduction to £10 per person per session for two or more bookings from the same family.
A Tennis Fun Day will be held on Tuesday 14th April starting at 10.00 am, with an Easter theme, all ages and abilities of youngsters will be welcome and a minimal charge of £1 per person will be made.
The next Tennis camps with take place in the Half term break commencing Tuesday 26th May for three days and culminating in a Tournament on Friday 29th May.

The final series of camps will take place during the long Summer school break commencing Monday 20th July for each weekday subject to demand which will be for a minimum booking level of 4 children per session. For this reason prebooking is essential using the enclosed booking form or by telephone to the Head Coach.

Participants are advised to bring lots of drinks and a snack for the mid session breaks.
If wet indoor tennis related activities will be organised.
All sessions will be conducted by a fully qualified coach having full CRB disclosure and trained in First Aid, although parents should be aware that coaches cannot administer any medication.
‘Road to Wimbledon’ intra Club Tournament.
On ( date to be announced) two tournaments – one boys and one girls will be held to decide who should go forward from the club to the next level of the competition which could ultimately lead to an appearance at Wimbledon.
Entrants must be aged 14 or under (born 1995 or later) and must be British Tennis Members. British Tennis Membership is free to all of our club members.
The cost will be £5 per person payable in advance or on the day. Applications to the Head Tennis Coach.
One – to – One Coaching.
Individual coaching is available by contacting the Head Tennis Coach and will cost £15 per hour with a reduction to £20 available to two members sharing a session.
Match Analysis.
A session to identify an individuals strengths and weaknesses can be arranged by contacting the Head Tennis Coach.
A written match analysis report will be provided for an all-in cost of £15.

In addition to these Open Tournaments the Tennis Section runs a number of closed (only open to members) Tournaments both for junior singles 14 and under, 17 and under, and Mens, Ladies Singles, Mens, Ladies & Mixed Doubles plus at least one American Tournament and the John Swallow Handicap Tournament at the end of the season
