IT’S A WHOLE NEW BALL GAME

Thursday April 23rd 2009 | Football

Back in 2005, we started up a football team playing in the Bury Sunday League called Prestwich CC Football Club. With Gary O’Brien at the helm, the team enjoyed great success with a Division Two Championship, Division One Runners-Up and a Premier Division Runners-Up spot in three successive years.

Last season, with Lorenzini taking over the managerial hot-seat, PCCFC finished fourth in the Premier Division – a decent achievement finishing just behind three very strong teams.

Now the club, under the new name of Prestwich F.C., are embarking on an expansion project and exciting times are sure to follow.

The original Sunday team will continue to play in the Bury Sunday League but we are also starting up a Saturday team and have applied to join the Lancashire Amateur League for next season.

There’s also a possibility of us taking on an U16s side as well – more news of this will appear over the summer.

The club has submitted an application for FA Charter Standard accreditation and the initial paperwork has all been approved and passed by the Lancashire F.A.

All that they need to do now is carry out a visit to us once pre-season has started up again.

We have a new sponsor in place for next season with Steve Woodcock’s company – Colourmove Vehicle Transport – sorting us out with two exceptional new kits. Previews of which can be seen below.

PCTBC’s football section expansion is all part of a wider project of making us a fully all-year-round club and offering further sporting opportunities for our local community.

If you or anybody you know who’s of suitable ability would like to play for any of our football teams next season then please see Alan or Peter or send an email to info@pctbc.com.

As always, you can keep up to speed on developments over the summer by regularly checking back on this website.
