Week 7 A Team away to Bailey Street A won 9 – 7 (6 – 4 winners) agg 173 – 175

Week 7 B Team Home to Bailey Street B won 13 – 0 (13 – 0 winners) agg 210 – 108

Week 7 A Team – were away to 3rd placed Bailey Street A who on their own patch are avery difficult side with a very fast tricky green. Like last week it was another game of two halves with the boys at the back pulling out all the stops to take the match but to loose out by 2points on the agg.

Dave Bellis still reeling from the previous week, soon found himself trailing 2 – 11 to Lou Ball, forced a mini comeback to trail 10 -15 only for lou to win 3 of the next 4 ends with the maximum of 2 points.Final Score dave 11 – 21 lost. Though is no disgrace has Lou has only once all season.

Ian luckett was, to be honest, simply awful, woeful or ssss very poor !!!!! I know I marked his card!! he lost 5 – 21( and the less said the better) to les cropper conceding 7 twos and defeat in only 17 ends. To be fair to Les did bowl well. Final Score 5 – 21 lost

Skipper Stu Played globe trotter steve blaymire’ dad – “old man” archie and stu was “old Manned”!! allowing himself to be talked out of his game. with the score at 5 – 6 down archie put on a mini break of 6 to pull away to 5 -12. The next saw neither player keeping the block and stu trailed 11 – 14 before yet again showed his age and experience put in another 7 break to win Final Score 11 – 21 lost.

Chrissy ireland Playing the very experienced Sonny Lee, was quickly taught a lesson, playing along the edge of the green and found himself 0 -9 down, chris finally got hold of the block and pulled 5 back, the next few ends saw exhanges between the players but chris was still trailing 11 -16. A break of 6 saw chris take the lead only to see sonny repond with of his own to lead 17 -20. Chirs dug deep which for his little arms is quite remarkable and won the the 3 ends to win 21 -21 and so keep his unbeaten strart of 5 from 5. Final Score 21 – 20 won

Dave Palmer playing against Chris Soar was a very interesting tussle. Dave raced to 7 – 0 lead only for Chris to get hold of the block and take the lead himself at 8 -11. Dave got his second wind (hope he his seeing a doctor!) and with a 10 break made the scores 18 -11. Again Chris imposed himself and reminded Dave he was not having all his own way pulled the scores level at 19 -19. I wont comment on the last end other than Dave didnt need to bowl his 2nd! Final score 21 -19 won

First Half 3 -3 (2 winners to 3) agg 69 – 101

Marky mark Prosser 1st on in the second half and sticking with his new bowls Played the average leader for Bailey Street Tony Nolan. mark found himself trailing 0 – 5 to pulled back the hard waywith a break of 7 in singles to lead 7 – 5. tony levelled only to see mark put another break of 6 again the hard way in singles to 13 -7. Again tony pulled a couple back, Again Mark put his 3rd break of 7 together and won 21 -11.

The crowd up next (Jon Armstrong) and Keen to keep both his unbeaten record and the pressure on red balls colin, was out to lay some old ghost ( no I dont mean his opponent) for he has never won in any league on that green. He found a fast running mark over the middle of the green to lead 9 – 1 against Paul Hodson. then followed exchanges which neither player contolled the game and the scorecard read 15 – 7 in Jon’s favour. But the sun went down, the green slowed and Paul showed his class and started to apply some very good green Knowledge & craft and played some very “interesting” swinging marks to take full control and put a break of 12 in to lead 15 -19. Jon, inspired by Chrissy I dug deep to level the game at allbut across (20 – 20) with Jon to Lead the final end, he led a 8 inch bowl to the side of the block, Paul dropped a yard short and in the way, Jon did like wise and so blocking his opponent view and forcing him to adjust and so fell away aimlessly. Final Score 21 -20 won.

.

Sprinter Gareth guesting in the second half was next on and playing against Malcolm Bamford. the early stages saw a see-saw with neither player establishing no authority scores went 0 -3, 5 -5, 8 -5, 8-8 before gareth put a spurt on with a 8 break to lead 16 -8 , followed by futher exchanges and gareth was comfortable in the end and final score 21 – 12 won

Mr 100% red balls Colin Palmer up next against the very experienced Vernon Hill quickly asserted himself and reminded people why he won the div averages 2 years ago and led 10 -3 with some fine bowling. vernon pulled a couple back only to see Colin chip in 5 of his own to lead 15 -6 The latter stages saw some close bowling, with the swapping between the pair, but the damage was already done and colin won 21 – 9 to regain top spot in the averages.

Stevie Dixon freshly promoted from the B Team was bringing up the rear and playing D Morris came back from 3 – 8 down to level at 10 across Both players played well and no one could keep the block but with Dave edging the score 16 -20. Steve also must have been inspired by Chrissy I and some digging of his own to level at all but across (20 -20). Steve had the lead and procduced an excellent foot bowl in front. Dave replied but stuck out to the side, steve second ran through to sit at the back but dave procuced a fantastic bowl under pressure and with all watching beat steves firts and so taking the game

Final score 20 -21 lost

Second Half 6 -1 (4 winners to 1) agg 104 – 73

First Half 5 – 0 agg 105 – 50

First on was skipper John davies and keen to keep the winning sequence going and maintain his postion at the top of the averages played Reg Birtles John was never in any danger and controlled throughout raced to 10 – 2 lead, 16 -6 and

finally 21 – 9

Next up Garth Moore played against J Horigan after the early exchanges settled into his stride and pulled away 11 -5 , 15 -7

Mr 100% John Steenson had a marathon see saw tussle with J kneale which lasted 31 ends though John did establish a small lead which woul prove to be enough at 13 – 7, only to see his opponent come back and level the scores at 17 -17. John pushed on to 20 -17 and his opponent did like wise with the score at 20 -20. But john had the last bowl and was sufficient to take the game and keep his unbeaten start. Final score 21 -20 won.

Fittingly we come to the anchor or the “OLD MAN ” of both the clubs A & B teams PHil Bradley whom was established as the oldest player at 72 (just kidding phil you dont look a day passed 70)He shall now be known as Gandalf (from Lord of the rings). with the pressure on having seen the rest of the team win reponded with an excellent performance starting with a 9 – 0 lead against J Crook, then 13 -6 and finally 21 – 7 win
