TERRY CHILD

Wednesday June 30th 2010 | Club

Terry passed away in the early hours of Monday morning after a long illness.

Terry a batsman played for Prestwich with distinction in the 1960’s and early 1970’s and was well known for his sense of humour and story-telling in the post match celebrations.

From a personal point of view my memories include Terry picking me up and taking me to Swinton for my first competitive match for Prestwich CC. He made me feel at home and always took a personal interest in how my game progressed in the early days.

He was typical of many at the club which was always friendly and with that extra ingredient that helped produce a family atmosphere. The Child family was an integral part of that family with both Terry’s boys Stephen and David following their Father and playing for PCC and Helen at her tender age was always there supporting them.

Completing the family circle and still competing is Chris who plays on several PBC Ladies Bowling teams, as I said a family club.

All at PCTBC offer their condolences to Chris and the children. God bless Chico.

The funeral is at Radcliffe Crematorium at 11:15am on Tuesday 6th July.
