T20 – THIS COMING MONDAY

Tuesday August 24th 2010 | Club, Cricket

A feast of cricket is coming to Prestwich on Bank Holiday Monday – with a visit from international stars.

A NatWest Cricketforce fundraiser is taking place at Prestwich Cricket Club and involving a Twenty/20 competition with three other local clubs.

There will also be junior coaching displays and a pro bowling and extreme catching roadshow, which people can try their hand at.

Representatives from the English Cricket Board will be present, with a Test player expected to visit the Heys ground from midday as well as Katherine Brunt from England Ladies.

NatWest Cricketforce is described as the biggest volunteering initiatives in UK sport, with more than 85,000 people giving up their time to improve grassroots cricket and facilities.

Prestwich has been chosen as a showcase venue, hoping to raise money on the day towards the replacement of its artificial wickets, as well as supporting Christie Hospital.

The four-team Twenty/20 tournament between Prestwich, Stand, Unsworth and Roe Green runs throughout the day, beginning at 10.30am.

Junior coaching demonstratinons will take place during the match intervals.

There will be raffles, a barbecue and refreshments, with additional car parking available at Prestwich Arts College on Heys Road, adjacent to the ground. Entrance fee is £1 on the gate.
