FIRSTS THROUGH IN LANCASHIRE CUP

by | Saturday October 23rd 2010 | Football

Prestwich came from behind three times to eventually get the better of Jacks House in the closing few minutes of this tough Lancashire Amateur Cup third round tie at The Heys on Saturday.

Bringing a lively away following, Jacks House of the Rochdale Alliance League charged in to a two goal lead but strikes from Kosub and Howarth levelled the scores at the break. Paul Taylor’s penalty equalised a third time before Andy Burns and Lee Bushell fired Prestwich in to the fourth round where a trip to Castle Hill awaits on the 13th November.

Our Reserves game at Rochdale St Clements was called off at lunchtime due to a waterlogged pitch while strikes from Kieran Comiskey, Anthony Roberts and Daniel Frappola (2) gave Peter Lorenzini’s Third Team a 4-2 win at Broughton Amateurs A.

The first twenty minutes were a cagey affair before Prestwich began to get into their rhythm. The deadlock was broken after 22 minutes as a driving run and low drive by Comiskey gave Prestwich the lead. Comiskey was showing why he feels he’s more than just a water carrier as he continued to link up well with forward Anthony Roberts and it was the latter who put the visitors two up after 36 minutes finding the bottom corner with a well taken goal. A minute later and the Heys Road men were in dreamland as Danny Frappola found the roof of the net to bag his second goal of the season.

The management team warned against complacency at the break as host’s Broughton had gone into the game in 2nd place in the table. However little could be done as a deflection from a long range effort left Hudson helpless in the Prestwich goal and got Broughton back into the game on 53 mins. Prestwich needn’t have worried as two mins later the new Danny Frap song was being sung again from the travelling hordes as the striker turned left winger netted his 2nd of the game.

Broughton struck again after 62 after some sloppy defending. No need to worry however as Dulux made a brief cameo appearance to run of the boogie bus refreshments as Prestwich saw the game out comfortably to make it 13 points out of the last 15 available as they continued their march towards the summit of Division 6 North!
