Saturday November 13th 2010 | Football

Prestwich booked a Quarter Final date with Rossendale Amateurs following this 4-3 win over Premier Division side Castle Hill on Saturday. Danny Smith marked his return to the side with a classy hat-trick while Lee Bushell notched the fourth. Castle got back to within a goal of their visitors with minutes remaining but Prestwich saw the game out to seal the victory.

Prestwich Reserves romped to an 11-0 win over Mostonians A at Heys Road. Jordan Clegg continued his remarkable scoring form with another FIVE in this match while Andrew Morrissey celebrated his return to action with a trademark free kick. Further strikes from Danny Jones (2), Phil Byrnes, Kieran Doherty and Bobby Finch help move Liam Morrissey’s men back up to second in the table.

Prestwich A’s trip to Bolton Wyresdale was called off on Saturday morning due to a waterlogged pitch.

Prestwich Sunday bounced back from an early Eastbury goal to lead 5-1 at the break before two penalties put the home side right back in it. A further Eastbury strike brought them to within a goal of equalising before Prestwich made the game safe with a further two late goals. Darren Buckley (2), Greg Marcroft (2), Anthony Roberts, John Fiorentini and Craig Howarth the scorers for Prestwich.

Lancs Amateur Cup Round 4

Prestwich booked their place in the quarter finals of the Lancashire Amateur Cup with a 4-3 win at Premier Division Castle Hill on Saturday.

Lee Metcalfe’s men enjoyed the opening exchanges and stunned their hosts with a quickfire double early in the game.

Lee Bushell sliced the Castle defence open with a low through ball for Martin Hill to square across the six yard box leaving Danny Smith a tap in from close range.

The lead was doubled just two minutes later, Hill the provider again as his high cross from the right was converted by the head of Smith.

But Castle hit straight back when a debated free-kick was well saved on to the woodwork by Scott Gibbon only for a forward to react quickest to the rebound and slot home.

After the break, Paul Taylor picked out Smith with a ball out of defence putting the forward through on goal to round the ‘keeper and find the net from ten yards for his hat-trick.

The home side pulled a goal back on 70 minutes before Bushell poked home right footed to restore Prestwich’s two-goal cushion.

Castle did find the net again with only minutes remaining but Prestwich kept the ball to see out the game and book a quarter final tie at Rossendale Amateurs on the 4th December.
