Prestwich narrowed the gap at the top of Division One to just two points following this emphatic 8-0 victory over 4th placed Old Blackburnians Reserves at Heys Road on Saturday. A hat-trick for leading scorer Sean Haslam was joined by braces for Lee Bushell and Paul Taylor with Danny Smith also firing in a direct free-kick.

The Reserves continued their title charge with an 8-1 away win at Mostonians ‘A’. Phil Byrnes grabbed a hat-trick while Kieran Doherty and Mike Seers scored two each with Andrew Morrissey also getting on the scoresheet with a free-kick in the first half.

Prestwich ‘A’ also made ground in Division 6 North following a 2-0 win over Broughton Amateurs ‘B’ at Drinkwater Park. Goals from Daniel Ingham and Paul McGovern sealed the win as Craig Howarth’s men finally recorded their first clean sheet of the season.

There was no joy on Sunday though as despite taking an early lead when Darren Buckley capitalised on a goalkeeping error, Prestwich fell to two goals in five second half minutes as Lizzy FC came back from behind to take all three points from Heys Road in the Bury Premier Division.
