PROGRESS FOR ALL PFC SIDES

Prestwich Football Club enjoyed another winning weekend with good progress for all our open aged teams in their respective competitions.

The First Team travelled to Hindley Juniors and came away with a 5-0 win and the three points in their chase for promotion to the Lancashire Amateur League Premier Division. Strikes from Sean Haslam, Martin Hill, Darren Buckley and a double for defender Mike Kirkley sealed the win for Lee Metcalfe’s side.

Prestwich Reserves continued their title charge with a hard fought 3-2 win over Thornleigh Reserves at Drinkwater Park. Phil Byrnes, Jake Howell and skipper Anthony Lewis scoring the goals for Liam Morrissey’s men who opened up an eight-point advantage at the top of Division Five.

Simon McMahon was the hero and villain for the ‘A’ Team as they collected the three points and moved in to second place in Division Six North. The burley midfielder scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot before receiving his marching orders for a clumsy challenge a little later on.

The Sunday team progressed in to the Quarter Finals of the Millennium Cup with a 6-1 success over Manchester Limo’s at Drinkwater Park. Goals from Sean Haslam and a brace from Chris Crookes were overshadowed by a superb second half hat-trick from Craig Howarth. Following a tap-in just after the hour, the winger popped up just inside the box to smash a first time volley in to the roof of the net before another effort from a similar position just a minute later secured his first career treble.

The win sets up a home quarter-final against Duck Club on Sunday 6th March, kicking off at 10:30am at Heys Road. As always, your support would be appreciated.
