MELISSA CONTINUES UPWARD PROGRESS

Tuesday March 29th 2011 | Tennis

Prestwich Tennis Club member Melissa Maddock (12) has had a terrific Winter Season, playing in LTA sanctioned events across the North of England and has ended the season ranked number 1 in the North and number 8 nationally in her age group.

Melissa has won several regional tournaments and her worst result was a quarter final defeat.

As a result, Melissa is now guaranteed LTA National funding and a place on the Aegon Future Stars programme. The actual amount of funding will be decided on a Talent Day at either the National Tennis Centre at Roehampton or Bolton Arena in May.

This success follows Melissa’s excellent showing in the Summer where she won tournaments in three separate Counties and represented Prestwich and Lancashire at Wimbledon where she won three of her matches.

Melissa is coached by Prestwich Head Coach Adam Maddock and her sister Stephaney who is a junior coach at Prestwich.

Stephaney said “Melissa has worked really hard and deserves her success”, while brother Adam added, “Melissa has shown she can compete at the highest level in her age group and now has to work even harder to progress further”.

If you want to follow in Melissa’s footsteps, why not come down to the club and join in some of the many courses on offer at Prestwich.
