CLUB SPRUCED UP FOR SEASON

STAFF from NatWest’s Prestwich branch put their stamp on a local sports club in readiness for the summer season.

They donned overalls and grabbed paintbrushes when they went in to bat for Prestwich Cricket, Tennis and Bowling Club.

Together with players and members, they helped spruce up the club off Heys Road, last Saturday as part of the 2011 NatWest CricketForce programme.

Among the various tasks were painting fences and boundary boards, and revamping the nets and sightscreens.

NatWest’s CricketForce programme is a grassroots imitative which aims to rejuvenate local cricket clubs across the country, and is run in partnership with the England and Wales Cricket Board.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of NatWest’s CricketForce programme, with a record 1,850 clubs participating.

Viv Michaelovitz, who helped organise the event at Prestwich, said: “Everyone worked really hard but also had fun during the course of the day. It is great to see the improvements made at the club in just a few hours.

“NatWest actively encourages its staff to get involved in their local community and working alongside club volunteers through the CricketForce programme is an ideal way to do this.”
