THIRDS RETURN WITH A WIN

Prestwich A Team returned to competitive action for the first time in 11 weeks with a hard fought 2-1 win over Rochdale St Clements B at Drinkwater Park on Saturday.

Daniel Frappola’s 38th minute headed goal gave Andrew Howarth’s team the lead but they were soon pegged back when the visitors equalised on the stroke of half-time.

But Karl Seaton’s 63rd minute strike restored the advantage and proved to be enough to secure the three points.

The win moves Prestwich A up to fourth in Division Five just six points behind leaders Roach Dynamos Reserves but with three games in hand.

• Prestwich’s First Team game at home to Castle Hill fell victim to the overnight downpour as did the Reserves game at neighbours Old Standians Reserves.

• Prestwich Sunday Team’s first outing for an unbelievable 13 weeks didn’t go to plan as Jamie Comiskey’s Premier Division side suffered a heavy 6-3 defeat at First Division Unsworth in the Millennium Cup. An Anthony Roberts strike followed by a brace from Shaun Jackson was the only consolation as Prestwich were dumped out in the first round.
