For the second game running, Prestwich drew two-all in another comeback, this time against Rochdale St Clements at Heys Road.
Just one place above Craig Howarth’s men in the Premier Division, Rochdale fell behind in the 20th minute when Lee Bushell’s free-kick deflected straight back to him off the wall as he then crashed a superb volley in to the top corner of the goal.
But the visitors turned the game around before the break as two unfortunate deflections left Alex Blake in the Prestwich goal with no chance.
First a forward ran in to the box from the left and saw his shot loop up off a covering defender and over Blake in to the net.
And St Clements took the lead on forty minutes as another effort found it’s way in to the back of the net following a touch off a defender.
Paul O’Donnell had a chance to get his side back level moments before half time but his powerful volley from outside the box was straight at the Rochdale ‘keeper.
Prestwich enjoyed the better of the game after the restart and finally got back on level terms in the 75th minute when Martin Hill’s centre created panic in the visitors box before breaking to Sean Haslam to force over the line from close range.
There were still chances to win it for the home side but Haslam’s first chance was easily collected by the ‘keeper before a neat turn and shot was superbly tipped round the post shortly after.
The point keeps Prestwich sixth in the Premier Division ahead of Tuesday night’s league clash against Howe Bridge Mills at Atherton Collieries’ Alder Street ground. Kick off is 7:30pm.
