LEAGUE champions Prestwich CC are ready for their first outing on turf this weekend as they set to retain the Lees Lancashire County title.

While the league campaign does not begin until April 21 with a home clash against Flowery Field, they are in competitive action on Saturday and Sunday.

The team faces a trip to Little Lever on Saturday in the first round of the National Knockout Cup, in which they reached the last 16 in 2011.

On Sunday, they travel to Uppermill for a challenge match against the champions of the Saddleworth League.

Skippered for a sixth season by Steven Lorenzini, the Heys club has retained Danny Jones as professional and Australian Matt Wiley has arrived back for a second year.

While left arm veteran spinner Chris Jones has signed for his home club Roe Green, Oliver Holt has returned to the Prestwich ranks after a year at Newton Heath.
