WELCOME TO NEW TENNIS COACH

Thursday April 19th 2012 | Tennis

Prestwich Tennis Club welcomes a new head coach – Karen Bevan, for the forthcoming season as it looks to develop its coaching offer for juniors, beginners as well as seasoned players.

Karen is a level 3 development coach and joins from the Lancashire Health and Racquets Club where she previously coached.

Karen has already held two pre-season tennis camps over the Easter holidays and has now commenced her first regular Saturday morning junior sessions. These offer coaching for mini red at 9am, mini orange at 10am and mini green and yellow balls at 11am. Attendance at the various groups is dependent upon ability but generally the mini red is suitable for 4-7 year olds, mini orange for 8-10 year olds and the green / yellow balls for over 10’s. The cost is £5 for a single session or £20 for 5. As the season progresses Karen will be introducing an after school class and is available for individual and group coaching for both adults and juniors for beginners and existing players.

Karen comments “I have watched with interest over the years as Prestwich has developed into a really good local club with a strong social and community focus. The Club has great facilities, following the recent expansion of the Clubhouse and new tennis courts and I’m delighted to be taking up this role and helping the Club deliver a coaching programme and more opportunities for competitive play”.

Karen can be contacted at karenbtennis@yahoo.com and enquiries about membership should be directed to the Club Chairman – Alan Millington on 773 2913 or membership secretary Gill Boyle on 798 8720.

Alternatively pop down to the courts on Saturday morning or at one of the social tennis slots held every Tuesday evening and Saturday and Sunday afternoons.

Annual membership rates for tennis start at just £17 for under 13s, £23 for under 16s, £30 for under 18s and students and £120 for full adult membership.
