CRICKET – NEW SEASON IS HERE

The start of the new cricket season – it must be summer. Well not quite, the gale force winds this week blew the sight screens over and trashed one of our practice nets! The inclement weather recently also means that our season opener has had to be moved to Bamford this Saturday.

We’ve had several ‘ins and outs’ during the close season with a lot of experience not just leaving the club, but leaving the game altogether.

On a more positive note we have been able to recruit new players to plug the gaps. Carl Hey will make his return to Prestwich colours in the Bamford game and Tom Scott will make his debut for the club.

Olly Holt is currently injured but will be available soon and with another couple of new signings available from next week we are beginning to look strong again.

The proper stuff starts next week with away trips to Glossop and Leyland, but for now we’ll focus on Bamford and getting some miles in our legs!

We have trained well over the winter and all the lads are raring to go now, I feel that we have the team to be challenging for the title again this season. We will continue to play our aggressive brand of cricket and hopefully entertain all who come down to cheer us on!
