REPORT: Prestwich 3-0 Chaddertonians

Prestwich gained three vital points with an ultimately comfortable win against a Chadderton side relegated from the Premier division despite a lacklustre first half performance.

Having dominated the early exchanges but not capitalising Prestwich slumped into what is becoming a habitual sloppy period of misplaced passing and lack of cohesion to their game, fortunately whilst Chadderton did start to enjoy more possession in the Prestwich half in this period they didn’t really create enough to seriously threaten the Prestwich goal apart from one major scare when a mix up saw the centre forward clean through on goal with just keeper Mike Hudson to beat, Hudson spread himself well enough to force a rushed effort wide of the post.

Prestwich recovered composure and were unlucky not to take the lead when Paul Taylor cracked a header against the bar but the ball bounced down and away from goal.

Whilst being back on top and dominating possession again there was still a lethargy distinct lack of urgency in Prestwich’s game and it remained deadlocked at the break.

It all changed two minutes after the resumption when Darren Buckley who so often has been the driving force this season scored a peach of a goal firing waist high from the edge of the area wide to the keepers right from 18 yards .

Have got their noses in front it was largely a case of how many as Prestwich swarmed over the opposition with wide men Mike Neary and Aldair Victorano pressing high up the pitch denying the full backs any space to build from.

Sean Haslam had a penalty well saved before Neary made it two with a composed finish from the right hand edge of the box. Further chances came and went before Neary capped a fine performance with his second, latching on to a through ball holding off a defender that seemed by far to be favourite to get to the ball and slotting home from close range.
