REPORT – Prestwich 10-1 Hesketh

by | Monday October 3rd 2016 | Football

Shorn of three men due to a pre match mix up a 10 man Hesketh side were easily brushed aside by a powerful Prestwich outfit with the only blot on the landscape being the goal conceded to deny a clean sheet.

Skipper and centre half Richard Steadman started the rout in the 7th minute cutting in from the left hand edge of the box to rifle a shot low and hard into the far right corner.

The goals then flowed thick and fast throughout the game with the prolific Sean Haslam helping himself to four, Sam Holden three with a true hat trick of both feet and a headed goal, and Steve Murty two.

The pick of the goals were…… Haslam’s second on 24 mins which finished of a lovely flowing move started by other centre back Paul Taylor who picked out Martin Hill on the half way line who in turn threaded a nice defence splitting ball to Murty who squared for Haslam to finish the ball never leaving the floor throughout the entire move.

Murty’s first and Holden’s hat trick goals were similarly excellent strikes from some 25 yards out smashing into the top corner.

All in all it was a good day at the office but there will be sterner tests ahead.
