A hard fought victory on an atrocious playing surface saw Prestwich grind out another precious three points in what has become a three horse race for the title.
Missing a raft of payers due to assistant manager Chris Hopkins wedding Prestwich took the game to Hesketh from the start playing some amazing football given the that the ball was constantly bouncing up off a pitch that was completely rutted in all areas.
Whilst it seemed a matter of time before Prestwich took the lead with Mike Neary, David Prieto and Steve Murty a constant menace to the Hesketh defence with their speed and trickery there was always that fear that Hesketh could profit from an awkward bounce or a misplaced pass due to the pitch.
Centre backs Paul Taylor and Sam Holden had to remain fully focussed at all times to avoid a miscue or slip. Hesketh were having the odd chance though and stand in keeper Nathan Williams did really well to hold on to one stinging 20 yard snap shot.
Prestwich finally took the lead on 21 mins and the goal when it came was a peach of a move and finish, left back Liam Burke started the move in a surge down the left, he picked out Prieto who in turn fed Murty just on the left hand edge of the area, he pulled it back to Comiskey who crowned what was to be a man of the match performance shielding the back four by passing the ball with precision into the left hand corner from 20 yards.
Four minutes later Prestwich made it two with Darren Buckley the architect this time, his defence splitting pass saw Murty though on goal and he coolly slipped it under the keeper.
The game continued in the same vain with Prestwich in the ascendency but they were unable to add to their tally up to the break.
After the interval Prestwich initially continued to be on top but as the half wore on a sloppiness crept into their game and Hesketh came more and more into it. One always had the feeling that had Hesketh scored in this period Prestwich could be in real trouble, and Williams was called upon on several occasions but he made some awkward saves look easy.
New signing Luke Hinchy who looks to be a strong addition to the squad was introduced, Prestwich regrouped and recovered from their stutter although there was still a nervousness about as the 2-0 lead looked vulnerable should Hesketh nick one on the break.
A game defining moment came on 79 mins when a loose ball saw Hesketh release a forward through one on one on goal, Taylor recovered the ground brilliantly stretching every sinew to make a superbly timed tackle just as the player was about to shoot. The timing was made all the more better as seconds later Prestwich burst down the other end and Prestwich’s Spanish magician Prieto bamboozled a player in the box forcing a foul and Murty duly despatched the ensuing penalty to finally make the game safe.
Several more chances came and went including debutante Hinchy skewing one just wide following a lovely passing move but it remained 0-3 at the end.
