Spitfires Flying High

The Cricket Asylum’s indoor cricket Winter Bash has recently concluded with Prestwich players well represented across 6 Northern Star teams.

The Northern Star Slammers were beaten finalists in the U11s comp. Finn Goodwin, Sami Khan, Tom Allen and Nathan Flegg all played in the final. Oli Staley (illness) and Max Hunt (injury) were sorely missed on the day.

The Northern Star Spitfires, captained by Charlie Jackson won the U13s comp, having beaten fellow Northern Star team, The Seahawks, in the semi-final.

The Northern Star Sabres, skippered by Sam Regan and with Tom Hatchett and Liam Potts also in the squad, didn’t manage to progress from a tough U16s group. However, The Northern Star Superkings, effectively an U14s team, captained by Sam Staley and with Charlie Jackson, Ellis Compton and Ben Pinkus in the squad, were beaten semi finalists in the same U16s competition.

The Northern Star Sloggers Over-40s team with Pete Staley, Paul Goodwin, Anthony Mullin, Martin Regan, Tim Compton and Danny Pinkus in the squad are just about to play the 5th and 6th place play-off in their comp. Prestwich Pharmacy have reportedly noticed a dramatic increase in sales of heat rub and support straps recently…

With Prestwich CC lads still participating in National comps and with National Super League on the horizon there is still lots of indoor cricket to be played before we move outdoors.
