Peerless Pawson takes the Bulls by the horns

Prestwich Heat are through to T20 Finals day – after another powerhouse performance from Danny Pawson.

The left hander was simply brilliant as he smashed an unbeaten 69 off 40 balls in the gloom and rain tonight to see off a gutsy Heaton Bulls.

He cracked 8 fours and 3 sixes in yet another magical display of hitting after the visitors had posted a total of 137 for 9. This would have been more but for a crucial spell from Nathan Bailey who took 6 for 23 and prevented the Bulls from going on a late charge when well placed at 111 for 3. Top scorer was Tilaksha Malshan who had made 36 when he was bowled by man-of-the-moment Pawson.

Rain interrupted the game one over into the Prestwich reply, culminating in the loss of five overs, and then former Prestwich pro Amal Dalugoda made his mark by bowling Ryan Stanbury.

The DLS method may have been invoked and a revised reduced target set, but it was of no bother to the unflappable Pawson who pounded the path to victory with an over to spare.
