1990 – Anniversary Cricket Week

1990 was a season to celebrate for the club – but not because they won any trophies.

It marked the 150th year since its first ball was bowled.

To recognise such a landmark anniversary, a Cricket Week was arranged, and matches were played on every day.

This included a Past v Present, Tennis v Cricket, a schools competition, junior games, and an invitational game against a Select league XI.

It culminated in an anniversary dinner on the Friday night at Sedgley Park. It is unclear from our records how the 1st and 2nd team fared the day after!

As you can see from these great photos unearthed from the archives, the old clubhouse was still standing in 1990.

But it was not long before the bulldozers moved in, and the new pavilion was built and officially opened in 1991 by Lancashire legend Sir Clive Lloyd, marking a new chapter in the long and illustrious history of Prestwich CTBC.
