Under 9 team lose out in epic final

Prestwich’s Under 9 team narrowly lost out in a thrilling final at the Bury & District Indoor Tournament on Sunday.

Having had to play with one short throughout the competition, they performed brilliantly to reach the final and the outcome boiled down to the last over. Prestwich made a valiant attempt to overhaul a total of 145 but lost by 11 runs to an excellent Ramsbottom side.

The team of Matthew Flegg, Alex Videan, Kiaan Vij, Freddie Lomax and Max Worsley won two of their three group matches before qualifying for the semi-final as highest run scorers. They then defeated Woodbank in a well-contested semi-final.

Thanks to Bury Cricket Development Group chairman Phil Croft who organised the competition at Bury’s Castle Leisure Centre, and was played in an excellent spirit by all 8 competing teams.
