Six out of six for Prestwich

Prestwich enjoyed a 100% weekend with wins in all the six games played by our senior teams.

On Saturday the Firsts strengthened their second position in Premier 2, the Seconds edged a close game at home to Rochdalians and the Thirds, making a rare Saturday appearance, moved up to 2nd in the Sunday Premier.

Stuart Els top scored with 51 with 40 for Danny Pawson as Prestwich 1XI were all out for 168 in their trip to Woodhouses.

Runs at the start and end of the home side’s innings weren’t enough to absorb the loss of 8 wickets for just 40 runs as the chase ended 54 runs shy of their target.

Ryan Maddock was the pick of the bowlers with 5-26, 2 for 20s from Charlie Jackson and Nico Van Zyl.

The visit of Rochdalians was a tighter affair, Finlay Lester’s 3-19 and Adam Cheshire’s 3-31 the picks as the Second Team were set 180 to win.

However, at 14-4 in reply there looked only one winner until vital middle order runs from Thomas Orrell (45), Alex Bradley (39) and Dylan Kane (32) got the Prestwich worm back on top.

Unbeaten knocks from Cheshire (19*) and Lester (18*) got the Twos over the line with a couple of overs to spare.

Openers Adam Taylor (70) and Skipper Nick Carter (69) put on a superb first wicket stand of 147 as Prestwich 3XI completed their 40 overs with 178-6 at Uppermill.

The home side set about their reply well as they surpassed the 50 mark without any loss. But Leo Michaelovitz behind the stumps got front and centre with two catches and a stumping to help dispatch the top three.

Carter (4-32) mopped up the middle order, Michaelovitz took a rather nonchalant one handed catch off Liam Potts and an lbw for Karl West secured a 28 run win.

The Thirds celebrate another Uppermill wicket.

On Sunday, the First Team completed a 107 run over Woodhouses to move within 5 points of leaders Brooksbottom in Premier 2.

Tom Gibson top scored for Prestwich with 47 while Nico Van Zyl took 5-41 helping restrict the Failsworth side to 115 all out.

Prestwich 3XI overcame hosts Droylsden in their cup quarter final by 2 wickets. Skipper Nick Carter took 3-28 while Adam Taylor anchored the Prestwich reply with 49 from 116 balls as Prestwich progressed with 10 balls remaining.

Finally there was a comprehensive 9 wicket win for the Fours in their league game at Wythenshawe.

Pairs of wickets for Anis Khaliq, Max Sworder and Skipper Matthew Eaves before a maiden senior half century for Sam Staley helped see Prestwich home.
